Chickadee & Pine Wooden Stool

 

Does your wooden kitchen stool need a facelift?  Then you’ve found the perfect project!

 

 

Materials Used:

#4238 – Pine & Chickadee  $18.00

Paint Kit – $22.00 (2 Raw Linen, 55 Corduroy, 57 Dark Sandstone, 77 Pine Needle, White, Black, 18 Concrete, 19 Charcoal, Extender)

Right Step Matte or Satin Varnish - $7.50

Wooden Stool (12” Diameter) – Not available through American Home Stencils, Inc.

 

Directions:

Lightly sand top of stool to remove finish.   Basecoat with 2 coats of Raw Linen.  Dry thoroughly in between coats.

 

#4238 Chickadee & Pine :

Overlay 1 – Stencil everything with Corduroy, then shade randomly with Black.

Overlay 2 – Stencil Birdhouse with White, shade edges very softly with Black (it helps to add Extender to the paint to achieve this effect).  Stencil pinecones with

                   Dark Sandstone, chickadees with Concrete.

Overlay 3 – Stencil birdhouse with Corduroy, then shade with Black.  Stencil Chickadee wings & tails with Charcoal.  Stencil chickadee heads & face with Black.

Overlay 4 – Stencil pinecones with Corduroy.  Stencil birdhouse with Dark Sandstone.

Overlay 5 – Stencil tail with Charcoal & everything else with Black.

Overlay 6 – Stencil Pine Needles with Pine Needle mixed with a touch of Black.  Stencil wing with Charcoal , then shade inner edges with Black.  Stencil other

                   details with Black.

Overlay 7 – Stencil pine needles with Pine Needle.  Stencil wing with Charcoal.

 

Using a very dry stencil brush, with Pine Needle & Extender, softly dust around the edge of stool top.  Paint the outer edge of the stool top with Pine Needle.

 

 

Let dry for a day or two, then varnish with 2 coats of Right Step Varnish.
